About Us

One firm. Books, tax, and strategy under one roof.

About FM Accounting

Most business owners we meet are stitching together three vendors.
A bookkeeper who doesn't talk to the CPA. A CPA who shows up in March. A "strategist" who bills by the hour to tell them what they already know.
By the time everyone catches up, the tax bill is already written. We built FM Accounting to close that gap.

Why we exist

We've looked at the books of more businesses this year than we can count. Service businesses. Consultancies. Professional firms. Law firms.
We keep seeing the same three things.
An April tax bill nobody warned them was coming. A retirement contribution that's been zero for three years running. A CPA who files the return and disappears until next March.
Not because these owners are bad with money. Because nobody is putting the whole picture together for them.
That's the gap we close. One partner for tax, advisory, and strategic growth. One firm for your books, your tax prep, and your proactive tax strategy. One number. One person who knows what's happening across all of it.

What we believe

A return is a record. It's not a strategy

A return is a record. It's not a strategy

A good preparer finds every deduction that exists. They can't create ones that were never set up. The businesses that pay the least tax aren't the ones with the cleverest strategies. They're the ones making ordinary decisions a few months earlier than everyone else.

Real profit is a rhythm, not a report

Real profit is a rhythm, not a report

Most owners look at the money when a decision forces them to, not on a schedule. The owners who feel calmest about their business aren't the ones making the most. They're the ones who look at the same five numbers every month, on the same day, without waiting for a reason.

A phone call still matters

A phone call still matters

We don't care how good the software is or how clean the financials look. If you can't reach us — if you don't feel like a human being is actually working on your business — none of it matters. Real people. Real conversations. Real work.

We plan before the year closes, not after

We plan before the year closes, not after

Once a return is being prepared, the year is already shut. Whatever was missed stays missed. That's why our advisory work happens in Q2, Q3, and Q4 — not in April when nothing can be changed.

Who we work with

We work with two types of clients:
Business owners doing $500K–$10M in revenue. Service businesses, consultancies, and professional firms who are done being reactive with their numbers and want one firm accountable for the whole picture.
Small law firms. Solo attorneys, partnerships, and PLLCs who need a CPA that actually understands how a law practice runs — three-way IOLTA reconciliation, advanced client cost tracking, trust accounting hygiene, partner distributions, and profitability per matter. The things generalists miss.
We don't take every business that calls. The ones we take want a real partner, not a March-only filer.

What we do

Bookkeeping & CAS

Monthly close. Clean financials. Cash flow visibility. Your books ready for a lender, an investor, or a buyer any month of the year. No January panic.

Tax Preparation

Federal, state, and multi-state filings for S-corps, partnerships, LLCs, and PLLCs. Individual returns for owners and partners. Filed on time, defensible on audit, aligned with the strategy we’ve been building all year.

Proactive Tax Strategy

Entity structure, owner compensation, retirement vehicles, real estate, and PLLC-specific planning for law firm partners. We model the tax impact before you make the decision, not after.

Advisory for Law Firm Owners

Trust accounting hygiene, IOLTA compliance, partner distributions, and profitability per matter. Built for solo and small-firm attorneys who want a CPA who understands the difference between an operating account and a trust account.

Owner Financial Clarity

Quarterly reviews with the owner, not just the bookkeeper. What the numbers mean. What to do about them. What’s coming next quarter.

What working with us actually looks like

Last month, we identified $75,000 in tax savings for a client. Year one. That's the job. Not just filing what happened. Finding what nobody told them.
Meet Fady

Meet the founder

FM Accounting was founded in 2018 by Fady Mourice Mseih, CPA.
Fady earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from DePaul University and holds his CPA license in Illinois. Before founding FM Accounting, he served as Senior Accountant at The Opus Group, managing joint venture accounting from acquisition through liquidation, and as a tax accountant at CJBS and Topel Forman, preparing returns across real estate, manufacturing, private equity, and flow-through entities.
He built FM Accounting because he kept watching owners pay for the same problem twice — once in the tax bill, once in the fees to fix what should have been planned. The firm is his answer to that.
Chicago built. Business focused.

Rooted in Chicago's business community.

The firm operates from Chicago and works with businesses whose owners expect the discipline of a serious financial partner and the responsiveness of a firm that treats them as more than a file number.
